The Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) was declared by the Government in 2008 vide G.O.Ms.No.570 MA, dt: 25.08.2008 which included 849 villages under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority Act 2008. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) was constituted in 2008 vide G.O.Ms.No.571 MA, dt: 25.08.2008 for the HMR. The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Cyberabad Development Authority (CDA), Hyderabad Airport Development Authority (HADA) & Buddha Purnima Project Authority (BPPA) were dissolved and merged in HMDA in 2008 vide G.O.Ms.No.572 MA, dt: 25.08.2008.
